My boys really love the book “That’s Not My Reindeer” of the “That’s Not My…” book series.
It’s an adorable little book that has “touchy-feely” pages that my little guys think are awesome.
On a recent rainy South Florida afternoon, we decided to head over to the craft store and pick up some stuff to entertain ourselves for a little while. Having just read about reindeer, we were set on making some just like the reindeer we learned about in the book!
The kids were pretty excited. To be honest, if you give Little J a bottle of glue, he is always happy and ready to take on any task (more on Little J + glue below).
I was very excited, too, because I love homemade ornaments on my Christmas tree, so I was thrilled for the kids to add some to our growing collection.
To make our very simple, yet very adorable reindeer ornaments, here’s what we did:
We started with a foam cutout of a reindeer head.
You can use some heavy card stock, too, if you can’t find these foam shapes, or just cut the shape out of a regular ol’ square piece of brown craft foam. Also, you’ll need some gold pipe cleaners, googly eyes and red pom poms.
Basically, I just laid the materials out in front of Little J and he went to work!
Have you ever seen a kid so happy about glue? 🙂
He was a glue-addict last year back when we made our Sparkly Sequin Christmas Tree Ornaments, too!
We let the huge pile of glue dry over night.
Once the reindeer was ready to rock n’ roll his way over to the Christmas tree, I popped a gold pipe cleaner through the top of his head for easy hanging. Here he is in all of his gorgeous Elmer’s glue toddler-made glory…

Haha. I guess it's time to teach him "a little dot does a lot."
