I’m going to be very real with you today. Marriage takes work. Not all the time, but sometimes. Sometimes it gets to be the same routine, day-in and day-out. Wake up, eat breakfast, off to work, school drop-off, lunch, diapers, school pick-up, play time, cook dinner, bath, clean up, bed time….it’s just the life cycle of being parents and having kids. Romantic date nights, weekend getaways, and trying something new to spice things up a bit, can help keep things interesting and fun in between the day-to-day routine.
To us, there is nothing more important than our children. With that said, our marriage is also very important, which is why we find it extremely necessary to spend quality time together, alone, without the kids, not on our phones, or vegging-out in front of the t.v. Just the two of us hanging out and reconnecting.
Recently, we went to my cousin’s wedding in New Jersey. It was our first trip together without the boys. We had extreme mommy/daddy guilt about leaving them back in Florida, but knew they were in good hands.

Ready for the wedding! |
We decided to make a weekend trip out of it, and spend one night in NYC, before heading to NJ. It was so much fun to enjoy time alone with my husband!

Romantic walk through Union Square at dusk |
We usually have date nights a few times per month (going out to dinner or a movie) but this was the first time in a few years that we were able to take an adults only trip together, and it was great! It was the perfect timing right before the hectic holiday season to reconnect with each other.
We were able to relax, see the sights, eat nice meals at restaurants, and just be together.
