Back when I became a first-time-mom to Little J I had a lot to learn about motherhood. I thought I had things pretty well under control. Life has a funny way of letting you know when you’re getting a little too confident in your skills…
One afternoon, when Little J was about 7 months old, I met a friend for coffee. She had a baby around the same age as Little J, so it was nice to get out with another new mom. I decided to leave my huge diaper bag in the car, as I didn’t think I would need the overstuffed satchel for a quick coffee date. I figured I would just bring my wallet, and of course the baby. We would get coffee, be in, be out, be back in the car ASAP.
Wrong.
Boy, oh boy, was I wrong.
A “quick coffee date” turned into an hour long chat-fest. All of sudden, I smelt the undeniable smell of poop, and almost simultaneously my leg felt wet where Little J was sitting on my lap.
I picked up the baby to inspect his behind and it was very apparent that he had a huge diaper blowout! I was pretty horrified. There I was, sitting on the packed patio of a popular coffee shop, with my baby that had poop smears down his legs…with NO diaper bag!
I tried to get up and leave to go get my bag from the car, but my friend insisted that I take one of her Huggies Snug & Dry diapers to change him into, and a ton of her wipes, too.
We ended up loving Huggies diapers, and from that day on we became a Huggies family. I went over to CVS later that afternoon to stock up on even more Huggies and crossed my fingers to never have another blowout. Thankfully, they have been very few and far between, and when they happen I am always prepared.
Fast forward to now, as a mom of two little boys, we still use Huggies everyday. Summer is quickly approaching, and many of our afternoons will be spent in the pool, at the beach, and at swim lessons. We will be using Huggies Little Swimmers on the boys’ behinds throughout the season for the best protection!
My Diaper Bag Essentials…
Having learned my lesson the hard way, I never leave the house without a well stocked diaper bag, even with two toddlers.
Here’s what’s in my diaper bag these days:
Be sure your diaper bag is well-stocked, too! You can get Huggies to for your kiddos at your local CVS, and use this coupon (click here) for $2 off of your next $10 Huggies purchase!
That sounds like something that happened to my husband one time!! #client
sounds like my first week as a mom (first day home from hospital after a c-section) and had concluded bb was constipated and uncomfortable so just before we wnt to md office next day she pooped and without thinking just grabbed my purse as I had not yet ventured out of the house with the baby and the diaper bag. So we’re sitting in the doctors office lobby and she has a blowout and all I have on me is my purse- no diaper no wipes no changing pad. And another mom looks at me and offers wipes and then hubs went to the counter to get a diaper -yeah all is well now. Until bb started crying to be fed during exam and my milk has not come in and had not obviously brought any formula -uggghhh it was a rough day but now a funny story and my 5yo is none the wiser as mama always has everything!!!
I absolutely love that diaper bag! Would you mind telling me what brand it is?
