Doing laundry is
probably one of my least favorite mom-tasks. To be honest, I didn’t really like doing it before I became a mother. Now with a few more little bodies to provide clean clothes for it’s become even more of a daunting task.
In a perfect world, I would have a fabulous laundry fairy who would take all of my dirty laundry away and bring it back clean and folded. Maybe that fairy would be my mom and she happens to already provide that service for me? Just kidding…(or am I?) I’ll never tell.
Nevertheless, when the clothes are piling up, and we are running low on clean stuff to wear…and the laundry fairy is no where to be found, I rely on these laundry tips for families to keep us looking (and smelling) our best!
Laundry Tips for Families
1. I don’t wash kids clothes and adult clothes together. There are a few reasons for this. One reason is that little boys get a lot of funky stuff on their clothes! Mainly, though, it saves time and is easier to sort the laundry and put it away when the clothes will all be going to either our bedroom or the kids’ rooms.
2. I don’t match up the socks while I’m in the midst of sorting, folding, etc. It’s a huge waste of time to sit there and try to find mates for little socks while sifting through a pile of clothes. Instead, I grab a gallon size zipper bag and throw all the mismatched socks in the bag. Then, once I have all of the clean socks in the bag, I’ll attempt to pair them up. The sock monster usually has taken a few, but generally they all make it into the bag and back to their sole mate.
3. Make sure your dryer lint screen is always clean after each load of laundry. It sounds obvious, but it’s pretty easy to forget (for me, anyway!) Keeping the lint screen nice and clean will help to cut down on drying time and also save some money on your electric bill. Not to mention, it’s a fire hazard to have too much lint built up on that thing!
4. Make your laundry smell awesome! Let’s be honest, there’s nothing like the amazing smell of warm, freshly washed laundry. Scent can be a very powerful memory trigger, and I definitely want my boys to remember (when they’re older) that they always had clean clothes that smelled really nice. The secret to heavenly smelling laundry is using great scented products.
On a recent trip to Walmart I picked up some Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ to try out on my next load of laundry, and I also grabbed a bottle of Suavitel® Liquid Fabric Conditioner, both in Field Flowers scent. You can conveniently find them in the laundry aisle at your local Walmart. Be on the look out for the Soothing Lavender scent, too! There’s also Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ samples on select Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioners in stores now.
I tried the Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ on a load of towels, and my whole house was filled with the refreshing aroma of flowers and warm, clean laundry. It was a really comforting scent.
Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™are so easy to use. You just measure out the correct amount of the in-wash scent boosters, and add them to the bottom of your washing machine before you throw in the dirty clothes. That’s it! Magically, you have laundry that has a 5x longer lasting fragrance!
