My husband and I have shared a sweet love of cheesecake since we met each other about 12 years ago. We love it so much that even one of the tiers of our wedding cake was made out of cheesecake. It’s always been a treat that we order at restaurants on date nights, too.
I’m all for going out and getting glammed up for date nights with my husband. However, on the nights when we can’t get a babysitter for our two little boys, we often do stay-at-home date nights instead. These nights can be equally as fun as going out, and maybe even more fun!
Here are some fun ways to reconnect with your spouse after the kids have gone to bed:
Sweet At Home Date Night Ideas
1. Get ready –
Leading up to the date night, take a minute to send each other a loving text message. Let the other person know that you’re excited for the date night. Once it’s time to hang out, though, be sure to turn those phones to “silent” or put them away all together. Isn’t it so much more exciting to stare at each other instead of a phone screen?!
2. Cook together –
Make a delicious dinner together. Each spouse can prepare different parts of the meal, and it will be a team effort to make an awesome meal. Enjoy each other’s company and conversation as you create your meal. Use nice plates, pretty glasses, and things that you would usually avoid using with the kids (I can’t be the only one who doesn’t use the “good stuff” with my toddlers!)
3. Feast on a decadent dessert together –
After cooking dinner, a quick time-saving dessert will be the perfect way to relax together.
On my last grocery trip to Publix I noticed an awesome coupon for a FREE 17-24oz Hershey’s® Syrup when you buy any ONE (1) Sara Lee® Frozen Dessert item (now thru 10/09/15 while supplies last). So, I grabbed a New York Style Cheesecake and some Hershey’s Syrup to have on hand for our next at-home date night.
Our love of cheesecake makes this a perfect dessert idea that’s quick and easy to put together at a moment’s notice.
4. Take a walk down memory lane –
Want to reminisce on your next date night? How about breaking out your wedding album and flipping through the pages with your spouse? Maybe even take out your wedding cake serving set and using it to serve dessert. This is such a fun way to remember the day you got married!
5. Get comfortable –
Light some candles, grab your comfiest blankets and pillows, and relax together on your date night! Maybe even order an on-demand movie, too. We love to order movies at home and enjoy zoning out together as we get lost in a flick that we haven’t seen yet.
6. Don’t want to watch a movie? Play a game instead!
If you’d rather keep the conversation flowing on your next at-home date night, try playing a fun game together. Anything from an exciting card game, to a board game, or solving crossword puzzles together would be a great way to enjoy each other’s company.
