Cranberry Sauce is a holiday dinner staple. It’s always there at Thanksgiving and you may even see it at Christmas Dinner next to the turkey. Do you remember the sound that canned cranberry sauce makes as it :::plooopppss::: out of the can? YUCK! The thing is, you can totally make classic cranberry sauce from scratch in just a few minutes at home! There’s no comparison between fresh cranberry sauce and the stuff that comes out of a cranberry sauce can!
If I can make my food from scratch (and I have the time!) instead of getting it pre-processed in a can, I will definitely go the route of making recipes from scratch. They definitely taste better, and of course they have way less chemicals and unknown ingredients. All you need is some fresh cranberries and a few other simple ingredients, and you’ll have the best cranberry sauce to go along with your turkey!
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
Fresh Homemade Cranberry Sauce Recipe
– 7.5 ounces fresh cranberries
– 1/4 cup honey
– 1/4 cup orange juice (no pulp)
– 1/8 tsp all spice
In a small saucepan, bring to a boil honey, orange juice, and all spice.
Add fresh cranberries into the mixture. Lower to medium high heat. Continue to cook and stir regularly…The sauce will get gradually thicker, until all cranberries have bursted (about 15 minutes.) PS – It’s so much fun to actually hear the cranberries POP in the hot pot!
Remove the sauce from the pan and serve with your Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy!
This is such a delicious homemade recipe, and you can really make this homemade cranberry sauce all throughout the winter season, not just for Thanksgiving Dinner or Christmas Dinner.
