Make this festive Valentine’s Day felt heart wreath to add some pizzaz to your front door…or any door in your home!
I’m the kind of girl that likes a seasonal wreath on her front door nearly all year round. How about you? Last year I made these homemade Spring wreaths that I kept on my doors all the way until we moved in the Fall. I also loved the cute monogram basketball door hanger I made for sports season, too!
Since I didn’t have a Valentine’s Day wreath in my decor stash already, it only seemed appropriate to make a new one! I love how this wreath came out, and it looks totally fabulous hanging on my front door (if I do say so myself!)
I stopped by Michael’s Arts & Crafts for most of the supplies to make this felt heart wreath, but you could also grab everything on Amazon. (PS – I’ve conveniently included affiliate links for you in the supplies list below so that you can easily find everything you need!)
DIY Valentine’s Day Heart Wreath Craft
Here’s what you’ll need to make this Valentine’s Day heart wreath:
SUPPLIES
– foam heart
– red felt (or any color you’d like to use!)
– hot glue gun
– burlap ribbon
If you’re using a foam heart that isn’t hollowed out (like mine pictured above) then first trace out where you’ll cut to hollow the heart.
Next, use an Xacto knife to make clean cuts along the foam.
Michael’s didn’t have styrofoam hearts, but you can skip those steps if you get your hands on a foam heart that is already cut out (like this one).
Next you’ll begin tracing circles onto your felt. I used a 2″ felt circle for this wreath.
Then, cut out all of your circles! This is definitely the most time consuming part. (FYI – I used about 8 sheets of felt for this craft.)
Once you have all of your circles cut out of the felt sheets you can begin attaching them to the foam heart with pins. This is the fun part!
To attach the felt circles to the foam, follow the diagram above. Then, pin them randomly along the heart. If you pin them close together you’ll get a fuller look, whereas if you space them out a bit it’ll look more ruffly.
To add the burlap letters simply cut out small triangles from burlap ribbon. Then, use a Sharpie paint marker to write LOVE on the burlap.
Hot glue the burlap triangles onto some cord and attach to the backside of the foam heart wreath with pins, and secure with a dot of hot glue.
That’s it! Your front door will be anxiously awaiting it’s beautiful new Valentine’s Day heart wreath!
