Sweet summertime is nearly upon us! Well, here in Florida it’s already super hot and feeling like summer so I’m totally ready for some summer treats. How about you??
One treat that is synonymous with summer for me is an ice-cold, refreshing milkshake. I love how the arctic temperature of a fresh homemade milkshake can cool you right down from the sweltering conditions outside. Right now I’m more than 8 months pregnant, and don’t want to (aka – I got a talkin’ to from my doctor) pack on anymore excess weight. So, the traditional way of making a milkshake with lots of ice cream is totally out of the question for me right now. Not to mention, my cramped stomach isn’t loving a ton of dairy at the moment.
This healthier version of a banana cream pie milkshake eliminates the ice cream, but uses frozen bananas instead to achieve the milkshake texture. This homemade milkshake also uses the new a2 Milk. If you haven’t heard of a2 Milk yet, you’re in for a pleasant surprise! It’s the leading milk brand in Australia, and recently launched at Publix stores here in Florida.
Conventional cows’ milk, and majority of the milk consumed in the U.S., contains both A1 and A2 proteins but research suggests that the A1 protein is the culprit of causing digestive discomfort. Luckily, a2 Milk comes from identified cows that naturally only produce the A2 protein (and none of the A1 protein). Thanks to The a2 Milk Company (TM), people with milk sensitivities, including perceived lactose intolerance, can now enjoy the taste and nutritional benefits of real dairy milk.
a2 Milk makes a complete line of 100% real, naturally easy to digest milk including Whole, 2%, 1% and Chocolate Milk that even those with milk sensitivities can enjoy. Additionally, a2 Milk is completely free of any added hormones, rBST and antibiotics so you can feel good about giving it to your family!
