Living in Orlando has it’s perks. Besides being obviously super close to our beloved Disney World, we’re also super close to lots of other quick destinations. Last week we took a trip over to Saint Petersburg, FL and spent some time relaxing and reconnecting with our kids. It was a much needed break for our family and we enjoyed every last minute on Saint Pete Beach.
To be technical, we actually stayed in Pass-a-Grille, where we’ve visited before and I’ve shared about here on the blog previously. We stayed at the same hotel as before, Inn on the Beach, and we were pleasantly surprised at how beautifully they’ve remodeled the property since our last visit!
You can squeeze in a ton of action into 48 hours in Saint Pete.
48 Hours in Saint Pete Beach Florida
Here’s what we did:
Day 1:
Morning: enjoy a quick, light breakfast and head straight to the beach ASAP. (Note – Our trip was in January and it was quite chilly, so we were bundled up. It’s honestly a welcome break from the heat of the summer, and equally as fun!)
Early Afternoon: Grab lunch at Brass Monkey, serving up seaside fare and yummy bar food and drinks! Not to mention they have an incredible beach view!
Late Afternoon: Head back to your room and get cleaned up for the evening. Play a round of golf Smuggler’s Cove Mini Golf for a fun family outing! Our oldest son lost his very first tooth on the first hole (how appropriate!) while we were there.
Dinner: Grab a meal and relax for the evening. We grabbed dinner at Hacienda Mexico located in the heart of Saint Pete Beach. It was a great meal with friendly and attentive staff.
Day 2:
Morning: Get out onto the beach as quickly as possible! Enjoy every minute of the salt air and sea breeze.
Afternoon: We decided to head over to Mazzaro’s Italian Market and check out what all the hoopla was about. Let me tell you, you could easily spend the day there.
There’s food, coffee, a deli, bakery, and so.much.more. I am of Italian descent and I was basically in heaven there with all of the specialty Italian foods they have to offer. We grabbed some prepared foods and ate on their patio and it was lovely.
Late afternoon: My husband and I have a thing for old books. We love them. Saint Petersburg happens to have Florid’as largest new & used bookstore, so we had to go! We went to Haslam’s Book Store to check it out and it was great! They have new and old books, and you’re sure to find a treasure here!
Evening: Grab dinner, drive home!
We truly enjoyed our quick trip to Saint Petersburg, and hope this gives you some simple ideas of how to spend your time in this gorgeous area of Florida.
