One of the reasons I started this blog more than five years ago was to share about my experiences and struggles trying to have a baby. I have always been very open with my story of baby loss (you can read my entire journey on my About Me page), and I’ve been glad to share with other women who may be going through the same thing. The message is simple and clear to other women experiencing difficulty taking home a baby: you are not alone.
If you’re a new reader here, welcome! My path to motherhood was a rough ride. Did you know that 1 in 8 couples struggle to get and stay pregnant? I was one of those. It took many, many years to finally take home our first living son, and now we are very fortunate to have three beautiful living sons. We have suffered the loss of an 18 week child from my first time getting pregnant in 2009, a 30 week stillborn son named Max in 2011, and quite a few early miscarriages during the years in between those two losses. To say my fertility journey was a rollercoaster ride would be an understatement.
Over the course of my blogging journey I have received quite a few messages from readers letting me know that my story has inspired them to keep trying to have a baby. Those messages make my heart swell with happiness to know that I am helping others when I #TalkAboutTrying to have a baby.
In support National Infertility Awareness Week, I’d like to reiterate the message that YOU are NOT alone. If you’re struggling to get pregnant and have a baby, there is help available. The time is NOW to start having reproductive conversations. Many women should see a specialist about fertility, but may not realize it. If you have been trying for a year (under 35 years old) or trying for 6 months (35+ years old) and not getting pregnant, you may have fertility issues and should see a specialist (reproductive endocrinologist) as soon as possible. Women/couples struggling with fertility issues are not alone and can find support from each other when they share their experiences.
Back when I was in my fertility struggle, there wasn’t many available tools to help understand the journey I was going through. Now, more than ever, there are tons of resources available. One of those amazing tools is My Fertility Navigator which is designed to help women and couples navigate the rocky road of fertility by offering advice from trained support professionals, answers to the questions you’re afraid to ask, and resources to help you prepare for what’s next.
If you’re struggling with getting or staying pregnant, visit MyFertilityNav.com/contest to share your fertility story for a chance to win an all-inclusive weekend getaway for two to Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa. You can also help increase awareness and #TalkAboutTrying on social media and encourage your friends to as well. For every social media post shared with #TalkAboutTrying, Ferring Pharmaceuticals will donate $1 to RESOLVE:The National Infertility Association.
Best of luck to you on your fertility journey, my friends!
