We are homeschooling our boys this year, like so many other families. We made the decision back at the end of May, and I’ve been working to select our homeschool curriculum and plan out lessons.
This week we are doing a butterfly study. The boys and I are so excited to be able to watch our caterpillars go through their transformation and turn into butterflies. It takes about 7 – 10 days for the caterpillars to go through all of the life cycles and finally emerge into beautiful butterflies. Then, we can release them out into the wild.
Each day the boys will be observing and documenting the changes that the caterpillars are going through in their journals. I’ll be taking photos, of course! I plan to update this post with the daily updates as we go along. My sons are in 1st grade and 3rd grade, and this activity is appropriate for both of them. Even our 3 year old has a journal to write in!
I have linked all of the products and resources (many free) down at the bottom of this post if you would like to incorporate this into your homeschool curriculum.
